Nails Aftercare
Nail extensions and Natural Nail overlays
Whether you have full extensions or overlays applied to your natural nails, please follow our aftercare advice.
- Always use a basecoat if you paint your nails to prevent the colour from staining, followed by a top coat to protect them.
- Only use non-acetone nail polish remover.
- Wear gloves to protect your nails from detergents and household chemicals, we recommend cotton lined rubber gloves for washing up, housework and gardening.
- Avoid picking your nails when they start to grow away from the cuticle area, your technician will advise you on homecare to help keep your nails looking tidy inbetween visits.
- Do not use your nails as tools, for example opening boxes , it may take you a few days to get used to having your nails on and to recognise what you can and cannot do with them!
- For UV gel nails, we recommend that you avoid the use of oily products around the nails, wiping any excess moisturisers and hand creams from the nail area with a clean, damp cloth.
- For acrylic nails, we recommend the daily application of a cuticle oil, this will be recommended by your technician.
Most importantly, you must return for your infills regularly and in the recommended time as advised by your technician. Don't try and stretch the advised time between appointments as this rarely works and your nails will suffer. Remember to book your next appointment before you leave, particularly if you require a Saturday or evening appointment.
Infills are important as it allows your technician to check on the health and hygiene of your nails and to ensure that the nail system used is the most suitable one for you. If you return for your infills and look after your nails, they will look fabulous all the time. Customers with an oily nail bed may experience slightly more lifting around the cuticles. If this occurs, please avoid picking or you may lift the product off your nail which can cause damage or allow water and moisture to be trapped between the product and your natural nail, causing discolouration. If at any time you notice the gel has lifted off, please call us for an appointment so that it can be repaired.
