Male Waxing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Why get waxed?

Men and women of all ages and professions get waxed and the reasons include it being a quick method to remove hair, it provides longer lasting results compared to other hair removal methods, no shaving stubble, rash or uncomfortable re-growth, sparser, finer regrowth, less ingrowing hairs, and it being smoother and cleaner.

Why get waxed at Willow Spa?

We are highly experienced and qualified therapists, with specialist qualifications in intimate waxing for both women and men. We provide a quick and efficient waxing service using leading professional products including waxes for sensitive skin and hot wax, along with after-wax cool down creams and soothing oil. We pride ourselves on putting our clients at ease, but don’t just take our word for it! Please visit our customer testimonial page on this website to read what our clients say.

How long will the results last for?

This varies from person to person, but we recommend that you return to be waxed approximately every 4 weeks to being with, increasing the time as your hair regrowth gets sparser.

How long does the hair need to be?

At least ½ cm long, on average, this means letting your hair grow for at least a week. If you’re having any type of Brazilian or intimate waxing, the longer the hair the more uncomfortable it can be, so please trim/clipper the hair before your appointment, or we can clipper it for you.

What type of areas can be waxed?

Wherever there is hair, we can remove it! From chest, back, buttocks, eyebrows, ears and even your nostrils! As long as there are no contra-indications to treatment, we are happy to remove hair from anywhere!

Will waxing hurt?

This varies from person to person and some areas may be more sensitive to some people and not others. Removing the hair from the root may cause some discomfort but we cannot stress enough that with regular waxing, any discomfort that you may feel becomes minimal as your hair regrowth becomes finer and sparser. We are highly experienced and trained therapists and we will always try to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. We use a wide variety of waxes, including hot wax (non-strip) and waxes for sensitive skin types. Please visit our testimonial section of the website where you can read our customer comments.

Will it be sore afterwards?

It is quite common for the treatment area to be a little bit tender afterwards, but again, this varies from person to person. We apply cooling after-wax or soothing oils following all waxing treatments and we will provide you with full aftercare advice and information. Some redness and red dots often appear but settle down within 24-48 hours.

What happens when I come to be waxed?

You will have a consultation with your therapist in the treatment room where your therapist will explain your treatment and then leave you to get undressed. For any type of intimate waxing, you will need to get undressed from the waist down. A courtesy towel will be left for you to cover yourself and you can then lie down on the treatment couch. Your therapist will then come back in and carry out your treatment. Please ensure that you arrive for your treatment clean and smelling fresh, cleansing wipes will also be provided for you to use if required.

What if I get aroused during the treatment?

Sometimes this does occur, but don’t let it concern or embarrass you.

However, please be aware that this is a professional salon providing a male waxing service. Any inappropriate behaviour or comments will lead to your treatment ending immediately and you will be asked to leave the premises and the police may be called. Full payment for the treatment will be deducted from the card used to secure the booking and future bookings will not be taken. Our male waxing specialists reserve the right to refuse to carry out any treatment if they feel uncomfortable at any time.
